Eleanor Faye Teters

December 20, 1942 - September 9, 2017

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother & Friend Mrs. Eleanor Faye Teters, 74, passed away Saturday surrounded by her loving family at her residence in McCool, Mississippi. Visitation will be Friday, September 15, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Doty Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Don Ray and Rev. Larry Odom officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in Doty Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tony Fortenberry officiating. Eleanor Faye Ray Teters, “Faye”, was brought into this world on December 20, 1942, (in a little log cabin in Attala County) and was welcomed into Heaven on September 9, 2017. She was an amazing gift to all who were blessed by knowing her and loving her. She blessed so many hearts and souls. She loved the Lord with all her heart and she was a very proud and dedicated member of Doty Springs Baptist Church for many years. After graduation in 1960 she moved to Jackson and became a switch-board operator for Bell Telephone Company. While working there she met Max T. Teters. They were married on October 6, 1962. Then her journey began. They lived all over the United States followed by assignments in Singapore, Malaysia and Tripoli, Libya. While abroad they traveled over Europe and had many great adventures. During this, the “wet behind the ears” Mississippi girl had two children that she loved, cared for, and protected to the end of the earth! Finally she came “home”…. They moved back to Mississippi in 2000. It was here where her heart always stayed. She was deeply rooted in her family, the history, the people and her memories. She would fight for what she believed in but was also soft and had a heart of gold! She will be missed dearly by all. Mrs. Teters was preceded in death by her father Elton G. Ray, mother Bessie Irene Woods, sister Sarah Lynn Ray Ayers, and two infant brothers. Mrs. Teters is survived by her husband of 55 years, Max T. Teters; son Darren R. Teters and wife Robbie; daughter Teresa Teters; uncle Guy Woods & wife Mamie; aunt Mary Miller Woods and aunt Mavis Woods; five grandchildren, Darrien Teters, Preston Ray Teters, Sarah Eaton, Patricia Eaton, Gina Eaton. Serving as pallbearers are Bobby Ballard, Chris Dixon, Jamie Dixon, Regis Dixon, Paul Holly and Kenneth Woods. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Christopher Heavin and Preston Ray Teters. Memorials may be given to Doty Springs Perpetual Care Fund, c/o Judy Horne, 2937 Attala Road 5120, Ethel, MS 39067. Services are under the direction of Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS.
