Fannie Peaster Smith

September 11, 1927 - August 25, 2014

Fannie Smith, 86, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014, at Attala County Nursing Center in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terrell Stringer officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born on September 11, 1927, to Arie Walter Peaster and Jessie Bowman Peaster. She was a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church and for 36 years, she and her husband, Harold Smith, were self-employed business owners and she was a homemaker. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Charlton and husband, Leslie; and Gail Stroud, all of Louisville. Ms. Fannie was “Granny” to Les Charlton of Louisville; Allen Stroud and wife, Jessica, of Philadelphia; Ronda Stroud of Nashville, Tennessee; and Maegan Stead and husband, Pace, of Columbus. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren: Lesley Charlton; Kate Charlton; Ryan Charlton; Leigh Allyn Stroud; and Tate Stroud. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Smith; her parents; and her sister, Betty Jane Ward. Serving as pallbearers will be Les Charlton, Lamar Dempsey, Thomas Hindman, Ricky Miller, Allen Stroud and Kenny Thompson. Memorials may be given to Murphy Creek Music Fund, c/o Micki Muir, 551 East Main Street, Louisville, MS 39339 or to Baptist Children’s Village, P. O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060-0027. Services are under the direction of Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS.
