Mary Roynell Hill Richardson

April 15, 1927 - May 23, 2022

Mary Roynell Hill Richardson, 95, went home to be with her Savior on Monday, May 23, 2022, at her home in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be Thursday, May 26 at Murphy Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Mayo and Bro. Ben James officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Roynell was born April 15, 1927, to Luther Austin and Winnie Stokes Hill in Winston County, Mississippi. She was a 1945 graduate of Bond School. For 41 years, she managed a children’s clothing store in Butler, Alabama. Roynell was a long-time member of Mt. Sterling Baptist Church in Butler until she moved to Louisville several years ago. Currently she was a member of the church in which she grew up, Murphy Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her yard and with her flowers. Roynell is survived by her daughter Diane Tanner of Louisville and her son David Richardson (Crystal) of Tallulah, Louisiana. One of her greatest joys was being “Big Mama” or “Grandma” to her four grandchildren: Misty (Cade) Booth of Starkville, Mississippi; Parrish (Alicia) Tanner of Lutz, Florida; Brian (Emily) Richardson of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and John David Richardson of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; as well as her four great-grandchildren: Ian Tharp, Alexander Tanner, James Tanner, and Farris Richardson. She is preceded in death by her husband Fred P. Richardson, her parents, three older siblings: Louise Miller, Evelyn Rogers, and L. D. Hill, and one younger brother Phillip Hill. Serving as pallbearers are Cade Booth, Quinton Hill, Brian Richardson, John David Richardson, Parrish Tanner, and Ian Tharp. Memorials in honor of Roynell may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at stjude.org/donate. Services are under the direction of Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS.
