Mrs. Dempsey Holmes

Mrs. Shirley Dempsey Holmes, 53, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Thursday, November 3, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2011, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi, with Rev. Allen Eaves officiating. Interment will be in Welcome Chapel Jesus Name Church Cemetery. Mrs. Holmes was born September 26, 1958, to Raymond and Minnie Selma Dempsey. She was a member of Welcome Chapel Jesus Name Church, and she loved growing flowers in her yard and fishing. In addition to her husband, Joey Holmes, Mrs. Holmes is survived by her mother, Minnie Selma Dempsey; two sisters, Judy Stovall and Gail Nowell Dempsey; two brothers, Gerald Ray Dempsey and wife, Vicky, and Chester Dempsey and wife, Mona, all of Louisville, Mississippi. She is also survived by a step-daughter, Tess Satcher and husband, Jonathan, of New Hope, Mississippi; a step-son, Trey Holmes and wife, Amanda, of Columbus, Mississippi; three step-grandchildren, Aly Holmes, Haley and Madison Satcher; and her beloved dog, Fred. She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Dempsey. Pallbearers will be Raymond Dempsey, II, Jarrod Dempsey, Justin Dempsey, Brandon Stovall, Brett Kitchens, Chad Kitchens, Trey Holmes, and Jay Watson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Cotton Stokes, Bill Boykin, Laice Nowell, and Travis Joiner. Memorials may be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or to Welcome Chapel Jesus Name Church Cemetery Fund.
