Mrs. McBrayer

August 19, 1929 - October 25, 2010

Mrs. Annie "Lois" McBrayer, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, October 25, 2010, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William "Bill" E. McBrayer. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Katherine (Landrum) Stokes of Louisville; Gene (Landrum) Gregory of Noxapater, Mississippi; and Bernice (Landrum) Puska of Houston, Texas. Lois is survived by her daughter, Bambi McBrayer Bagwell, son-in-law, Corey Bagwell and grandson, William Bagwell of Starkville, Mississippi. She is also survived by her brother and sisters-in-law: Royce and Opal McBrayer of Louisville, Mississippi; Sarah and the late Boyce McBrayer of Demopolis, Alabama; Cecil and Liz McBrayer of Weatherford, Oklahoma; and Richard and Nancy McBrayer of West Point, Mississippi. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lois was a retired elementary school principal. She also served as a director of special services and has served many years of teaching regular and special education in Mississippi and Georgia. When she and her husband retired, they moved back to their hometown of Louisville, Mississippi, where she currently lived. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Louisville, Mississippi. She also enjoyed Friday night games of Rook with her friends, traveling around the United States and abroad, and especially enjoyed loving, playing with and spoiling her only grandchild, William! A special thanks goes to Dr. William Williams of Jackson and his wonderful care during her brave battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Thanks and praises also goes out to the 5th floor nurses and hospice ministries staff of Baptist Medical Center for their treatment, care, devotion, patience and words of encouragement during our stay at Baptist. Visitation for Mrs. Lois will be Wednesday, October 27, 2010, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 28, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Ronald Stokes, Rodney Stokes, Johnny Johnson, Chris McBrayer, Keith McBrayer, and Steve McBrayer. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Children’s Department at Calvary Baptist Church, 405 North Jackson Street, Starkville, MS 39759. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, Mississippi, is handling the arrangements. You may sign the guest register at www.nowellmasseyfuneralhome.com.
